Season of Giving
Season of Giving: Luton Sixth Form College Brought Hope and Joy to Many
As the festive season approached, students and staff at Luton Sixth Form College came together to spread kindness and generosity through a series of impactful initiatives. The college’s *Season of Giving* campaign included a coat appeal, food bank donations, fundraising for the Middle East, a shoebox appeal, and the ever-popular Christmas Jumper Day, all of which aimed to make a difference both locally and globally.
Coat Appeal: Wrap Up Luton
Recognising the growing need for warm clothing during the colder months, the college worked in partnership with Human Appeal and Discover Islam to provide essential outerwear for those in need. Students and staff donated coats in excellent condition, ensuring individuals and families in the local community stayed warm this winter. The response was overwhelmingly positive.
Supporting Our Local Food Bank
The college also turned its attention to addressing food insecurity by collecting non-perishable goods for the Luton Foodbank. Generous contributions from students and staff provided vital support to families struggling to make ends meet during the festive season.
Fundraising for the Middle East
In addition to local efforts, the college extended its generosity to the global stage by raising funds for those affected by ongoing crises in the Middle East. Through bake sales, charity events, and voluntary donations, the college community raised an impressive amount to help provide essential resources to those in need. Over £2,000 was raised in less than three hours! Thank you to students for taking the lead on this initiative.
Shoebox Appeal: Small Gestures, Big Impact
The shoebox appeal saw students and staff filling boxes with gifts, toiletries, and heartfelt messages for vulnerable children and adults. These carefully prepared packages brought smiles to faces and reminded recipients that they were thought of during the holiday season. Boxes were distributed between, Luton Foodbank, Keech Hospice and Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
Christmas Jumper Day
To cap off the campaign, the college celebrated Christmas Jumper Day, where students and staff donned festive sweaters to raise funds for charity. The event added a touch of fun to end the year.
A heartfelt thank you to students and staff for the generous donations.
